The Committee to Support Parental Engagement (CSPE) is planning to host a candidate kick-off event Saturday for parents to meet the candidates  running for the Saugus Union School District (SUSD) Board. 

The event is scheduled for Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Vincenzo’s Pizza on Plum Canyon in Saugus. 

This is an opportunity for local residents to meet the candidates that the CSPE is endorsing for our local school board races, officials said. 

“Refreshments will be provided as residents will have an opportunity to meet with the candidates

and speak with them one-on-one,” officials said. 

Sharlene Duzick-Johnson, Jesus Henao and Anna Griese registered a slate in hopes to fill the positions open on the SUSD board.

We are encouraging everyone to get to know the candidates that are running prior to the ballots being mailed out, officials added. 

Some of the SUSD candidates came together to form a Family First ticket, which would get parents back onto the Saugus Union School Board.

The event is planned to take place at Vincenzo’s Pizza on Plum Canyon in Saugus from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. 

The SUSD election is scheduled for November.
