Paola Jellings Appointed To Sulphur Springs Union School Board

Paola Jellings, a Santa Clarita native, was unanimously chosen to serve on the Sulphur Springs Union School Board representing Trustee Area No. 3 Wednesday, officials said.

Jellings was one of four candidates who were running for the position, according to the agenda of the June 17 meeting.

“I grew up in Santa Clarita and graduated from the (Sulphur Springs) District,” Jellings said.

Jellings has worked previously in other Santa Clarita school districts in administrative positions, however, this new role will be her first time as a school board member, according to Jellings.

Last year, Jellings took a step back from working with the different school districts to be a stay-at-home mom to her five children, three of which are currently enrolled in the district, with the two younger twins expected to join.

“I really am excited to get to know our families,” Jellings said. “I worked with youth my entire working career, and recently became a stay-at-home mom so I am excited to work with kids again and bringing that back.”

Jellings originally received her undergrad in sociology from Brigham Young University, (BYU) and recently received her master’s in school counseling from the University of La Verne.

The four candidates who ran for the position included Alan Ferdman, Daniel Maldonado, Paola Jellings and Richard Alan Iosue II.

Jellings was sworn in as a board member at the Wednesday meeting.

  1. Let’s hope this isn’t a Communist, Anti-American board members. We have two of them in Saugus and they’re both equally worthless.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
