Butterflies Invade Santa Clarita This Weekend At The 12th Annual KHTS Home & Garden Show

Get up close to hundreds of butterflies as they swarm around, feasting on nectar from a stick in your hand.

The butterflies are back at the 12th annual KHTS Home & Garden show this Saturday, April 29th and Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Central Park.

Admission is free.

The Butterfly exhibit is courtesy of Gilchrist Farm and The SCV Water Agency.

Imagine a large mesh tent filled with hundreds of butterflies.

“We plan to make our butterflies a permanent display at Gilchrist Farm,” said owner Monica Gilchrist. “Everyone gets handed a feeding stick with nectar. It’s quite the educational experience.”

At the KHTS Home and Garden show spectators will have a chance to visit over 450 booths, featuring vendors from all over the Santa Clarita Valley.

“We’ve selected local businesses, most have been serving Santa Clarita for many years,” remarked KHTS’s Carl Goldman. “It’s a wide array of services for your home. You’ll be able to talk with the experts and compare. This has become the biggest annual weekend event in Santa Clarita.”

There’s also a large Arts & Crafts Fair featuring over 150 Santa Clarita artists and crafters.

Saturday will feature the Emergency Expo.  Climb aboard a fire engine or watch as firemen demonstrate the “Jaws of Life,” as they tear apart a car.

On Sunday dozens of vintage sports cars will be on display courtesy of the Santa Clarita Corvette Club.

The hours for the 12th Annual KHTS Home & Garden show are 10 a.m. 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

“Your kids will have a fantastic time,” said KHTS’s Jeri Seratti Goldman. “We have an entire area, the Kid Zone, with fun activities. Gilchrist Farm will showcase a petting zoo, pig races and pony rides along with their Butterfly Exhibit. Your kids will have tons of activities. It’s a fun, unique experience. On Saturday we feature the Emergency Expo, with plenty of firetrucks and other emergency vehicles. Kids can climb on board, hit the siren and talk to our first responders.”

Everyone’s favorite food trucks will be there. Enjoy lobster rolls, fusion tacos, New York Style pizza and gourmet burgers. They will be serving up sweet, savory and even spicy treats.

“And admission is free,” added Goldman. “We’ve once again taken over the entire back field at Central Park, by the dog park.”

This year’s presenting title sponsor is Providence Holy Cross Health and Services.

Other show sponsors include The SCV Water Agency, Southern California Edison and The City of Hope.

The KHTS Home & Garden show is produced in partnership with the Santa Clarita Coalition.

About Carl Goldman

Carl Goldman, along with his wife, Jeri repurchased KHTS AM-1220, Santa Clarita’s hometown station on October 24, 2003. They owned it from 1990-1998, and then sold it to Clear Channel Communication in 1998, buying it back from Clear Channel in 2003. Since then, they have rebuilt KHTS as a critical voice of the Valley. In 2015 the radio station moved to its new headquarters on Main Street in Old Town Newhall, in the original Newhall Hardware building. In 2018 an FM was added, 98.1, with its signal being simulcast with AM-1220. In January 2020, Carl and Jeri cruised on the Diamond Princess. Carl was one of the first Americans to come down with Covid-19. Months earlier he was impacted by Guillain Barre Syndrome as a result of a Shingles vaccine in September 2019. He is still in recovery from the vaccine.
