Santa Clarita Environmental Services is helping Santa Clarita “Go Green.” They work with people that are passionate about saving the environment.

Santa Clarita has put forth a tremendous effort to improve the city and modernize infrastructure.

The City has replaced 846 high vapor sodium road lights with enlistment lights. By simply changing out the streetlights Santa Clarita has freed up more than $49,000. The yearly River Rally has expelled 436,000 pounds of junk from the Santa Clarita River.  

One of the most recent projects that the Santa Clarita Environmental Services worked on was recycling debris from developments and demolitions. More than 91 percent of development and demolition debris was able to be reused, which amounted to more than 106,000 tons.

The Environmental Services Department primary objective is to secure the environment in the Santa Clarita area. The City has built up a few Environment programs if you would like to volunteer. Volunteers have been instrumental in making an impact on the lives of Santa Clarita residents by cleaning up the environment.

Their Residential and Commercial Recycling Programs have diverted massive amounts of materials from landfills. The Stormwater Program, is intended to shield neighborhood conduits from contamination and raise water quality in the Santa Clarita Valley.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District is working towards conducting a local planning process to determine the most affordable way to upgrade the Valley’s sewage treatment facilities to meet the State’s strict salt limits.
