Interestingly, the State of California has the best record for producing the most talented NFL players. Underlining its claim as a hotbed of American football, California has produced 3,056 NFL players, leading the way over the years ahead of 2,613 from Texas.

These two states are ahead of every other by some clear margin, with 1,751 hailing from Florida, 1,542 having started out in Ohio, 1,440 beginning their trajectories in Pennsylvania, and 1,051 initiating their path to the NFL in Illinois.

Taking a focused look at which individual colleges have produced the most players, no college has produced more NFL talent than Notre Dame, located in the State of Indiana. The famed Fighting Irish program has produced 591 players, who went on to play in the NFL.

Nevertheless, second amongst the most prolific football colleges is USC, as 526 players started their path to the NFL with the Trojans. Meanwhile, the third most successful college is Ohio State with 494 NFL players over the years.

Given the next US election is dominating headlines, there’s even data indicating voting records between 1984 and 2004. According to historic research of NFL players, Republican states have produced around 32% more players, compared to Democratic states.

Overwhelmingly more NFL players have originated from states and colleges in the eastern United States, compared to the west. However, California and USC, in particular, have maintained a prolific record for producing NFL talent. Hopefully, that success will continue for many years to come.
