Does The Pandemic Hit Max Polyakov’s Space Business?

Max Polyakov Caught Up by the SpaceNews

SpaceNews caught up with this monster of space business. Here is what he shared about his success during this pandemic.

Setting Long-Term Goals

Talking to SpaceNews, Max Polyakov, the international entrepreneur best known for his Silicon Valley-based investment vehicle Noosphere Venture Partners, said that the pandemic did not slow his company’s pace. It instead created various partnership and acquisition opportunities with space companies. It is because the company aims at long-term goals. Also, it confronts short-term external challenges with its thorough understanding and expertise of the market.

The businessman firmly believes that the company’s long-term prospects will prove highly beneficial after COVID-19 is over. The company’s vertical integration principles allow the whole new generation of space companies to hold over-ground stations, communication, space earth observation, and data analysis.

Eager to Compete in a Healthy Business Environment

As Earth Observing System Data Analytics (EOSDA) plans to launch its first synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite in the upcoming years, Max Polyakov expressed his keenness to establish a competitive environment for business. In response to a question prompted by SpaceNews about its competitors, he appeared to be confident that the company’s existing investments will meet success. At the same time, he said that the company vigilantly looks for opportunities that may prove beneficial for its customers and provide synergetic benefits to the business.

Meticulous Attention to Details

As for the significant delay in the first launch by Firefly Aerospace, he said that they were trying their best to hasten the process. But given the complexity of spacecraft vehicles, the team had to meticulously pay attention to the details, which became the main reason for the delay but is expected to account for the launch success.

Urge to Invest Knowledge and Expertise in Space Business

Since Firefly seeks to establish a business with a long-term future, it would prefer the investors who share its passion for the idea of building an integrated powerhouse. Out of the investors currently contacting Firefly, Max Polyakov said that he would prefer to partner with those who would share their knowledge and expertise along with money.

However, it appears to be an ideal, and thus a remote scenario to Firefly Aerospace founder. He believes that the SPAC trend is unhealthy for the space industry. Companies with a relatively lower intrinsic value may try intricate technologies, resulting in overpromising their clients about what they can deliver.

EOSDA – A Reasonably Priced Business Option

Voicing his positive expectations about EOSDA, the entrepreneur said that the satellite his company is planning to launch soon would be an economical option for all those who want to monitor the physical effects of their operations. This is due to:

  • An updated data processing system
  • Compression algorithms
  • Reduced number of satellites due to the advanced cameras the company will employ

He proudly mentioned Firefly’s contract with NASA and the task assigned to deliver a suite of 10 scientific investigations to the Moon by 2023. At the same time, Max showed his excitement that this vertically integrated system could attract customers in the fields like

  • Climate change monitoring
  • Disaster management
  • Agriculture analytics
  • Real estate
  • Petroleum, gas units
  • Forestry

Max concluded by saying that as long as space business is aimed at the service to humanity, it is a genuinely great venture!
