Step 2: Setup the cabinet

The second step involves setting up the cabinet. You can choose other shapes like square, triangular, cylindrical, and many more provided that they offer you the best design.

The essential thing to consider when selecting the shape of the cabinet is the available space. The cabinet should have stainless steel material, plywood, plastic or metal. That is to ensure the cabinet will be resistant to corrosion, wear, dirt, and much more.

Inside the cabinet, there should be two equal parts. The upper portion will house things like the water pump, battery switch, and others. The lower cabinet will house the two tanks. One tank will be carrying clean water, and the other used water from the washing basin at the top.

Fix the four wheels at the bottom part of the cabinet for easy mobility. Remember, the portable sink with hot water will be heavy, and thus you will require the wheels to move it.

Step 3: Connect the apparatus

Connecting the apparatuses is among the most crucial step that needs you to be extra careful. That is because if you make a simple mistake, you will either run out of apparatus or require to set them afresh.

Before connecting the apparatuses, you need to double-check the item’s measurements. For instance, the drainpipe should be able to run from the washing basin to the tank.

Below are some of the connections you need to make;

1. Connect the drain pipe

The drain pipe should run from the washing basin at the top of the cabinet to the tank receiving used water.

2. Connect the other pipe to the primary system

The primary system is composed of a water heating element, faucet, and pump. The pipe should connect from the tank with freshwater. Switching on the pump should allow water to move to the heating element.

The heating element that you choose depends on the place you will be using the self contained sink. If the areas are remote with no access to electricity, you can opt to use the solar water heater or carry heated water in bigger thermos flasks.

Once the pump and heating element are on, water should run from; clean water tank to the heating element and the faucet ready for use. If you do not need hot water, you can switch off the heating element.

Step 4: Test your hot water sink

After carrying out the few steps discussed above, making portable hand washing station, then you need to test your sink. Before you test your self-containedsink, ensure that everything is connected well.

If you are using an electric water heater, ensure everything is well sealed. That will help to avoid electric shock. Remember that water and electricity can lead to a severe electric shock. If everything is set perfectly, then you can test your portable hot water sink. The sink will work well.

Things to note

  • When connecting the pipes to the tank and faucet, you need to use fast tape to avoid water leakage.
  • It would help if you used T-Shape with correct dimensions to connect pipes running from clean water tanks and faucets.
  • Depending on your budget, you can choose to use a foot pump or any other that suits your budget.
  • You may incur an extra cost depending on the pricing of items you choose
