How To Reduce Stress When Moving

Moving to a new place is never easy. Changing your daily routines and adjusting seems daunting, but change is good.

However, packing all your stuff and then finding the best way to relocate them from A to B is stressful. Don’t wait for the last moment, because you will feel overwhelmed and make mistakes.

I wanted to learn a few tricks about how to handle moving and keep my sanity so I talked to Miracle Movers moving experts, and here’s what you should do before contacting the pros.

Throw Stuff Away

How long has it been since the last time you cleared clutter? Years, if ever. Moving is the perfect storm for this. When you start filling the boxes you can finally get rid of old clothes or items that no longer bear any significance for your current or future life.

This will make the job much easier as you will have less to pack, carry and unpack, but more importantly, you will feel much better about yourself and feel ready to move on. Start fresh at a new apartment and throw away everything you hoarded and never look back.

Take Your Time

Packing takes a lot of time and planning. You know how much effort it takes when you want to go on a simple vacation. The earlier you start the better. If you know you will be moving in a month, start today.

Start with items you won’t be needing initially when you step into a new apartment. Pack books, clothes you don’t need immediately or anything you don’t use frequently. This way you will be ready when the day comes and save time by focusing on stuff you need on a daily basis.

Create a schedule, do something every day. Choose one room at a time and set aside a few hours every day for packing. Don’t be lazy, you know you will move anyway so it’s better to start as early as you can.

Single Out Documents

You need to keep your ID, passport and whatnot always at your side. These items are very easy to misplace in the chaos. To avoid unnecessary stress, gather all documents and essentials and designate a bag that will always be with you throughout the process. It is better to be safe than sorry and keep your documents, contracts and memorabilia with you.

Use Your Moving Boxes Properly

There are a few angles to consider when you start putting stuff into moving boxes. First of all, it pays out to invest in quality moving boxes in order to protect your belongings.

Try not to overflow them to seemingly speed up the process or reduce the carrying amount. You will risk damaging something, and make it harder to unpack.

Use the right size for different items and try to allocate the weight on as many boxes. Avoid leaving unused space by putting clothes or foam peanuts between breakable items.

Schedule Your Moving Crew On Time

When you plan and budget your moving the next recommended step is to contact a good moving company to ensure a safe transfer.

Professionals will help you place all your boxes into the truck and also unload them at the destination. It is always better to count on a few helping hands especially if your friends or family are not available.

It is also recommended to schedule early on to avoid any inconvenience, and expand your options for choosing the vehicle you want and the number of movers. Plan ahead and take your time, create a budget, and pack something every day.
