Margie Hauser Crafts A Rewarding Songwriting Career That Includes Collaborations With Noted Artists

Margie Hauser has collaborated with noted artists, crafting a meaningful and rewarding long-term career in the music industry.

Music has often been called the universal language, and this old adage still holds true. A well-crafted song can make a powerful connection with listeners of varied cultures and languages. Songs often conjure up memories of favorite experiences and bring hidden emotions to light.

Margie Hauser, a Los Angeles-based songwriter and producer with many successes under her belt, has helped artists of many genres share their music with audiences. She also regularly assists emerging artists in navigating the complex music industry. Together, these creative (and rewarding) pursuits fuel Margie Hauser’s personal career growth.

Margie Hauser’s Music Career Takes Shape

Margie Hauser’s thriving songwriting career began in 2008, a highly productive year that saw the launch of 19 published songs. Her ability to play piano and other keyboards by ear greatly streamlined the creative process. At the same time, Hauser’s skill in translating a melody into varied genres broadened the demand for her songwriting skills.

Margie’s natural melodic talents, plus her ability to craft emotionally impactful lyrics, remain the catalyst for songs that resonate with audiences. In fact, she is often recognized as one of the most prolific songwriters of this era.

Playing to Her Strengths

In her own words, Margie sums up what she brings to the table. “I believe my personal signatures in songwriting are a powerful melody, a great hook that you can’t get out of your head, and a compelling bridge.

I think it’s important to realize your own strengths. And, for me, it’s melody. I’m a melody person first. I’m comfortable writing hooks and bridges.  Also, I know what my weaknesses are, which keeps me in my zone,” she emphasizes.

Meaningful Connections are Key

Regardless of the song or musical genre, Margie’s greatest desire is to make an emotional connection with her audience. “Connecting is what music is all about. Connecting in person when you’re collaborating but also making sure that you can connect with the listener where they are!

“People hear music in different ways, but it’s all about providing the goosebumps and really just moving people, whether it’s something sad and intense, or a feeling so exhilarating that makes someone want to get up and dance.”

Connecting with Others in the Industry

Margie Hauser’s enduring music career also revolves around professional connections. She still enjoys meeting new people and discovering new opportunities. “I think those connections are always evolving. I’m still learning. I’m still networking.

“I love to meet new people in the industry. People are changing positions all the time within publishing companies and record labels. And I think trying to keep your finger on the pulse is a big job.”

Collaborative and Production Opportunities

Although Margie enjoys composing solo at her piano, she also thrives on working with other highly creative professionals. Her music career continues to be enriched by collaborations with artists and other songwriter/producers.

Margie has infused her creative energy into songs in the pop, singer/songwriter, country, and EDM genres. She has also dipped her toes into world music.

An active Recording Academy member, Margie Hauser has written Billboard charting songs for multiple popular artists. She has also collaborated on several films’ musical scores. Not surprisingly, her piano-led instrumentals lend themselves well to TV and film placements.

The Power of Creative Collaboration

Margie says her creative collaborations have added an enriching new dimension to her career. “I think it hit me during my first collaboration. A big, big light went off because I realized collaborating was critical to writing. And for many years, I was just by myself, and thought, ‘Oh, this is enough.’

“But when you get in the room with people you would have no business being in otherwise, or even being together socializing, what you come up with is so powerful. And they become a part of your life forever,” she emphasizes.

Writing for Multiple Music Genres

Margie also speaks about her ability to write music in multiple genres. “For me, I think it’s because I’m a melody person, It’s important that I can cross genres. I can work with a Country artist one morning, and then do some EDM in the evening. I’ve been blessed to have had success in both. So, for me, I like that I can flip it.

“I get fueled by my collaborators that can take me to a different place and enhance my talents, and in turn, I hope to bring out theirs!” she summarizes.

While continuing to cultivate a thriving songwriting career, Margie has branched out into music production work. As a respected Producer, she hears all parts of the songs and can translate that into the overall sound.

Creative Collaborations via Zoom

Not surprisingly, the COVID-19 pandemic cast Margie’s artist collaborations in an entirely new light. Relegated to Zoom writing sessions during months of mandatory lockdowns, she says it was possible to keep the creative connection alive.

“I think it’s challenging to get used to working via Zoom, because you do lose the chemistry and that sort of physical connection you have with the artist, the feelings that you have when you’re writing and creating something. But, it’s fun to watch how everything evolves.”

Margie says the process went more smoothly when working with existing artist partners. “If you already have the relationship, I think that it helps. If it’s a brand-new artist, it takes a little more time. I think there’s nothing that replaces being in the same room,” she emphasizes.

A Passion for Nurturing New Artists

More recently, Margie Hauser has channeled her expertise into helping new artists build their distinctive brands. Specifically, she writes and produces music designed for each artist’s target market and delivers in single releases and extended play (or EP) formats.

Margie Hauser co-writes each song with the artist, capturing their personal essence and relationship to their audience. Then, she often produces the song with her notable attention to detail. She talks about the driving force behind each emerging artist collaboration. “That’s really what is my passion right now…working with young artists.

“And I think just trying to help them to stay true to who they are in coming into the industry, and helping them understand what their strengths are, and what their brand is, and how to best showcase with the right songs and with the right team around them to be able to see if they can get to the next level. And really, that’s what’s exciting for me is to see them grow and watch how their journey evolves,” Hauser says.

Honesty Drives Each New Artist Collaboration

Margie reflects on how she approaches each emerging artist partnership. “I think being honest is the first thing. Before I even get involved with an artist, I say, ‘What do you need from me? Do you want me to tell you what you want to hear? Or do you want me to tell you what I really think?

‘And when I do tell you what I think, it’s really just my opinion. So, it doesn’t mean it’s right or wrong, but I’ll tell you what I think from my heart, from my gut, and from my experience.’ And so, I try to offer that right up front. The first phone call, really,” she explains.

Cross-Platform Creations: The Future of Music

In today’s digital world, Margie Hauser emphasizes the value of music that can be used in multiple media. “I think everything’s very visual. I try to write while thinking about what the video will look like, and how social media will fit into a business plan for an artist. Thinking visually when you’re creating is really critical.”

Margie’s music career continues to be infused by timeless, powerful lyrics and captivating melodies. At the same time, she is firmly anchored in 21st-century music industry dynamics. Together, these attributes point to a sustained career overflowing with enriching creative opportunities.
