Non-Profit Aims To Enhance Senior Healthcare In Santa Clarita

Getting affordable medical care has always been a challenge for majority of American seniors, and according to a recent poll, 7.5 million seniors are unable to pay for medication prescribed by their doctor. Moreover, over 90 percent of older adults believe that healthcare costs will get more expensive over time. Rising healthcare costs can have a negative impact on a senior’s quality of life. Most elderly people are already foregoing treatments and medication due to the costly expense, which may lead to more serious health conditions. As a result, Partners in Care Foundation, which is a non-profit organization, has stepped up to help older adults with health conditions in Santa Clarita and other parts of California to get access to free healthcare services.

Free Healthcare For Seniors 65 and Older

Choosing among different Medicare plans, such as Plan G, F, and N, can help seniors to get access to affordable medication and treatment since Plan G comes with zero out-of-pocket costs, while Plan N has a lower monthly premium. But apart from being able to afford medicine and basic medical care, many seniors also need funds for assistive tech and devices, meals, and other essential services that can help them to age in place independently. That’s where Partners in Care comes in. The non-profit offers free long-term services that will enable seniors to have a better quality of life, even if they’re on their own.

Some of these services include adult day care, care management, counselling and therapy, assistive technology, and even incontinence supplies. Partners in Care also provides personalized assistance to older adults 65 and older with complex health needs in the form of  transportation and meal services, minor home repair and maintenance, and supplemental in-home chore and personal care, among others. By offering these services, the non-profit aims to help Santa Clarita seniors to stay at home and safely age in place.

Bringing Empathy and Compassion Into Modern Healthcare

Modern healthcare has become dehumanizing for older adults as they regularly face discrimination, stereotypes, and prejudice in hospitals due to their age. It can be discouraging for Santa Clarita seniors to seek medical help since they constantly experience ageism in hospitals or clinics. What’s more, they often get inadequate care due to assumptions that older adults can be difficult to deal with. Partners in Care has brought empathy and compassion into modern healthcare since specially trained social workers assist seniors in their own home. Moreover, there is no lack of human interaction, which can enhance an older adult’s mental health and prevent them from becoming depressed or isolated.

Through the services offered by Partners in Care, seniors in Santa Clarita may delay or avoid nursing home placement and prevent or reduce hospitalization. For emergencies, chemotherapy treatments, and surgery, older adults may seek medical care from Santa Clarita hospitals such as Memorial Hospital, Olive View-UCLA Medical Center, or the local American Red Cross Community Clinic.
