Cats were domesticated by humans thousands of years ago and ever since we have been inseparable from one another. Not only are cats incredibly friendly but they can also help us to keep our houses clean, as the original reason for their domestication was for pest control. Your moggy will hunt out any rodents helping to keep your home clean and disease-free. Because of this, cats have a special place in our lives and are found in millions of homes around the world, but it isn’t the only reason why we find them so utterly adorable. Here we are going to take a look at all the reasons why we find our furry friends so cute and loveable.

They Are Entertaining

Cats have an uncanny ability to keep us entertained for hours with their idiosyncrasies. All it takes is a laser pen to have them running around a room like a madman, keeping children and adults in hysterics for hours. Kittens are even more entertaining with their inquisitive nature meaning that they will play with any toy or rodent shaped creature for hours on end. They will literally climb the walls trying to catch them and then will turn round to you with an innocent look as if to say “haven’t I done well”. What could possibly be cuter?

They Love to Sleep

All human beings love to sleep, and many of us wish there were more hours in the day for us to enjoy the comfort of our warm snuggly bed. Well, cats sleep when they want, where they want and that is an undeniable fact. If they are bored they sleep. If they are happy they sleep. If there are no humans to play with they sleep. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to behave like that!

They Like to Sit in Boxes

We all have a feline family friend who likes to sit in a box. If you go to the supermarket when you unpack your cat food and stock it in the fridge, by the time you turn round there will be a cat sat in the empty box looking at you with a proud look on its face, as if it knew that the delicious nutritious food was for them. Sometimes you will go into a room in the house and there the cat is all alone, sitting in the corner in a box contemplating its next meal. Why do they do it? We’re not entirely sure, but Sybil at TheCatMom.com reckons it is probably to feel safe and secure, but who knows, maybe they are just drawing attention to themselves or trying to prove how clever they are by knowing it is their food box. Whatever the reason it is undeniably adorable!

They Are Independent

Have you ever tried getting a cat to do something it doesn’t want to? It is utterly impossible, cats will only do what they want when they want. If they decide they are in the mood for play, then you have no choice, they will badger you until you agree. Conversely, if you fancy playing with your Mogg then the chances of it complying are virtually zero. Everything, and I mean everything, is done on its own terms. In humans, we find this personality trait narcissistic and unbearable, but in cats, we find it roguish and loveable. Oh, to be a cat, eh?!

They Can Look After Themselves

The beauty of a cat is that they take virtually no looking after. You do not have to clean up after them ever, and they will never pester you for food in the same way that a dog would. In fact, if they are hungry and there is nothing in the bowl they have two choices: go and hunt, or break into the neighbour’s house to eat their cats’ food. How much easier would it be if your hound did the same thing?!

They Own You

It is normal to think that you own your cat, but in fact, it is the opposite way round. They manipulate you into doing what they want, every single time, and we absolutely love them for it. When they brush against your legs when your friends come round it is actually their way of warning your guests that you are theirs and they cannot mess with you. How adorable!

As we have discovered there are many reasons why people find cats utterly adorable. They keep us entertained for hours on end in a way that no other creature does, by being stupid but incredibly clever at the same time. They will sleep all day long, but sit in boxes feeling proud, and they will do what they like, when they like, all of the time. They take no looking after and are fiercely independent. I don’t really need to go on as these are reasons enough as to why we find our feline friends so adorable and cute.
