On this episode of Eye On The Valley, host Matt Watson is joined by guests Kim Pearlman of the Raising The Curtain Foundation and office manager of SCVI Charter Schools Colleen Banks Shanahan.

Matt begins speaking with Kim who is the board president of the Raising The Curtain Foundation which works to bring performing arts to youth within the Santa Clarita Valley community. The mission of the foundation is to enhance the Newhall Family Theatre Performing Arts Center which is an inclusive performance venue for members of the community.

Later, Matt is joined by Colleen Banks Shanahan who discusses the curriculum of SCVi Lead schools and their open-learning concepts. Colleen mentions SCVi’s fundamental beliefs as well as the experience she had after enrolling her own kids in the school.

“I was working in another school district in our valley and was reading a newspaper and there happened to be an article about SCVi in the newspaper,” Colleen said. “I said “Boy that sounds interesting” so I came, we took a tour, and that was it.”
