Insight Treatment Hour – How Parents Can Improve Relationships With Your Teen – February 13, 2023

On this episode of Insight Treatment Hour, host Frederik Schulin welcomes in guest Malena Ally, Adolescent and Young Adult Therapist, to discuss how parents can improve on their relationships with their teen child.

Malena specializes in working with people from approximately 10 years to 30 years of age. She has spent her entire career working with children and adolescents, as well as parents and school systems.

Malena finds her work with adolescents especially rewarding because it is a time of rapid brain development and growth. Teens can be so incredibly smart and tuned in, yet sensitive to the demands placed on them by family, friends, and society.

While working in the classroom I noticed that teachers weren’t addressing how the teen students were feeling or what was going on in their lives, Malena said. It was either that they were untrained or weren’t aware that this needed to be addressed.
