Hosts: Pastor Jerry Cook
Topic: Blue Line Flags Banned By School District
Guests: Lexi Hawk, Jason Gibb
On this special broadcast, Pastor Jerry Cook discusses the uproar and unilateral decision made by the school district to ban Blue Line Flags, which represent support for police officers in the Santa Clarita Valley and nationwide. Pastor Cook explains how this rhetoric of looking to ban anything that makes a particular group unhappy is dangerous.
“This type of logic is going to implode on itself at some point,” Cook says. “It wont be long before somebody’s going to say “The American Flag has been co-opted by racist elements” and if thats the case I guess well have to get rid of the American Flag.”
Later, Pastor Cook welcomes in the mother of the Saugus Football player that carries the flag onto the field, Lexi Hawk. Lexi explains how both her son and the Saugus football team’s intentions were nothing other than what the blue line flag is meant to represent: support for police officers. She cites family members and family friends that have relayed their message and thoughts about what the blue line flag means to them, nearly all unanimously believing it is a signal of unity, not divisiveness.
Jason Gibb also joins the show to discuss his article in support of Lexi and the Saugus Football team as well.
