Kim Murphy, Executive Director of Clinical Operations — September 18, 2019

On this episode of the Providence Holy Cross Health Hour with Dr. Tom Burton, Kim Murphy, Executive Director of Clinical Operations for Providence Holy Cross, joins the show to talk about all of the great happenings and progress Providence Holy Cross has been making. With 18 years of experience at Providence Holy Cross, Dr. Burton asks Kim about her beginnings in medicine. Kim started as an EMT and completed her RN program at College of the Canyons. Kim talks about how doing aptitude tests during junior high recommended her to be an anesthesiologist. Kim’s mom recommended that Kim start with nursing school to find out if she really wanted to pursue being an anesthesiologist. After completing nursing school, Kim realized she was more interested in other fields of medicine and has led her on a long journey to the position she holds today.

Later in the show, Kim shares the story of how she severely injured herself while riding her horse one day and was admitted to Providence Holy Cross. She had to go through the ICU, cognitive tests, and other areas of the place she now works for, and gained a firsthand experience of what it was like to be a patient. It gave her a new perspective on the medical process and the care services she oversees. Kim also talks about the 10-year plan Providence Holy Cross has for updating, upgrading, and adding on to the facilities they already have. There are many factors including internal hospital needs, the community’s needs, and others that greatly impact the decisions a hospital has to make. Kim provides the details on what Providence Holy Cross is working on and will begin working on through the course of their 10-year plan.

Listen in as Kim Murphy tells her story and opens up about what makes her so passionate about her work, and talk about the progress Providence Holy Cross has been making and will continue to make.
