Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation — January 15, 2020

On this episode of the Providence Holy Cross Health Hour with Dr. Tom Burton, Onita Turner, Doctor of Physical Therapy, joins the show to talk about pelvic floor rehabilitation. Dr. Turner started at CSUN and worked with adults with neurological disabilities which lead her to start working in the acute rehab center at CSUN. She worked as an aid there, and then got into physical therapy school. After graduating there, she started doing outpatient work. Dr. Turner didn’t want to contain herself in any particular field and continued to do a broad spectrum of work. As she continued to work, she started to gain more interest in her physical therapy work that targeted the back, legs, and feet and she saw a hole in her work. She used her own time to look at postpartum health in women, which lead to a natural transition into where she is at today.

Later in the show, Dr. Turner talks about the specifics of the work she does in and out of the doctor’s office and physical therapy room. Dr. Turner also talks about how she went through almost all of the same problems that her patients go through, and how that enables her to better treat and relate to the people she takes care of. There is a lot of discomfort that can come from the pelvic floor being out of alignment or negatively impacted, and Dr. Turner takes a very hands-on and thorough approach to helping her patients find relief.

Listen in as Dr. Tom Burton talks to Onita Turner, Doctor of Physical Therapy, about pelvic floor rehabilitation on this week’s episode of the Providence Holy Cross Health Hour.
