Dr. Sam Scriven and Spiritual Care — January 16, 2019

On this episode of the Providence Holy Cross Health Hour with Tom Burton, Dr. Sam Scriven, Manager of Spiritual Care at Providence Saint John’s Health Center, joins the show to talk about what he does to provide spiritual care to those at Providence Saint John’s Health Center and Providence Holy Cross. Dr. Scriven interacts with the families of patients just as much as the patients he helps. Sam helps maintain a positive relationship between the patients, the medical staff and the families to help everyone know that they are more just another problem to fix. Family is important to Providence Holy Cross and Providence Saint John’s and Dr. Scriven provides great insight on what sets them apart from other hospitals and medical facilities that offer treatment. Going to the hospital doesn’t have to be as bad as the pain you are feeling, and Dr. Scriven is an important part of helping people and their families know they are being taken care of in a personal, authentic way.

Listen in as Tom Burton and Dr. Sam Scriven talk about spiritual care, and how impactful it can be when providing a medical treatment experience that feels like you are part of a family instead of a process.
