On this week’s episode of the Senior Hour, Barbara Cochran and Dr. Thomas Polucki bring on Dr. Marjun Duldulao from the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital to talk about colon cancer and when is the best time to get screened.

Gastral rectal cancer is just behind breast cancer in ranking of cancer that affects women the most and has a high mortality rate.

“Symptoms are not the first signs of a problem,” Dr. Polucki said.

When it comes to screening, it is often said that at the age of 50 is when you should get tested for colon cancer however even younger at 45 or 40 is better to get early detection and start treatment if needed even earlier before the issue grows, Dr. Duldulao said.
