Panic vs Prevention — March 11, 2020

On this episode of The Senior Hour with Dr. Gene Dorio and Barbara Cochran, Alex Urbina, Life Coach, joins the show to talk about the difference between panic vs prevention as the Coronavirus (Covid-19) continues to be a prevalent part of everyone’s lives. Seniors are one of the few demographics that have to take serious precautions with avoiding the Coronavirus, and Alex shares how people have descended into panic without considering how they can prevent an outbreak in their own community. Alex, Dr. Dorio, and Barbara talk about the societal impact they have noticed on the crowds of people that usually inhabit the busy Los Angeles area. They talk about how panic has presented itself in how people have purchased hordes of toilet paper and have cleared off shelves. They compare that to being mindful about not attending a sports event or concert in order to avoid contact with large groups of people who they don’t know have taken the proper measures themselves to avoid catching the Coronavirus.

Later in the show, they continue to discuss how much point there is to worrying about the Coronavirus. Barbara talks about how she has maintained her health diligently, and does her best to maintain her exercise and diet. Dr. Dorio and Alex explain how despite taking good care of one’s body and mind, there is still a lot about the virus that we as human don’t know about the virus yet. They talk about how people choose to live in fear, and how to manage their stages of thinking and their state of mind. Alex brings up how increased worry, fear, and panic natually decreases the ability of a person’s immune system, and how this process can be a vicious cycle that feeds on itself.

Listen in as Barbara Cochran, Dr. Gene Dorio, and Alex Urbina have an excellent discussion about panic vs prevention regarding the spreading of the Coronavirus in the United States.
