Socially Distant, Together — April 1, 2020

On this episode of The Senior Hour with Dr. Gene Dorio and Barbara Cochran, Barbara calls in to talk to Dr. Dorio while she remains at home practicing social distancing. Barbara and Dr. Dorio talk about the frustrations Barbara feels having to remain at home, and the difficulties Dr. Dorio has faced while continuing to practice his essential medical work for other senior citizens. Barbara shares what she has been doing to keep herself active and moving, and offers suggestions for other senior citizens who have been at home self-quarantining. Barbara talks about how many more people have gone outside, and how wonderful it is to see people enjoying their front yards even while maintaining their social distance. Despite the difficult circumstances we all find ourselves under, Barbara appreciates what people have been doing to keep themselves entertained and active. Barbara and Dr. Dorio also talk about how puzzles are an easy, mentally engaging activity that can be done indoors to help pass the time while self-quarantining. With many others also at home self-quarantining, Barbara says calling her friends and family members has been a key way for her to socialize and connect with the people she is used to seeing in-person on a regular basis.

In the second half of the show, Nola Aronson, M.A., CCC-A, of Advanced Audiology calls in to the show. Nola and Dr. Dorio talk about how Advanced Audiology has transitioned to a contactless business model, and how Advanced Audiology has continued to provide their services to the Santa Clarita Valley. Nola offers tips and advice on how to perform maintenance and repairs that people can easily do themselves at home. If problems persist, you can call (661) 388-6998 to set up a contactless drop-off or a contactless pick-up with Advanced Audiology. Nola wants people to know they are working hard to help do their part in flattening the curve, and keeping people safe at home.
