Where to Get Groceries for Seniors — May 13, 2020

On this episode of The Senior Hour with Dr. Gene Dorio and Barbara Cochran, Bradley Gross, Founder of Santa Clarita Grocery, joins the show in-studio. Bradley comes in to the show to talk about what Santa Clarita Grocery has been doing to help the community. Prior to the outbreak of Covid-19, Santa Clarita Grocery could only serve a very limited number of people each day, but the necessity for change turned out helping their operation innovate and get faster. Bradley and his team members can now serve over 10 times the amount of people on a daily basis by setting up a drive-thru service. Santa Clarita Grocery provides a weeks’ worth of groceries to anyone who is food insecure. There are no hoops to jump through and Santa Clarita Grocery is entirely nonprofit so there is nothing that gets in the way of them helping the people of Santa Clarita. Bradley and everyone at Santa Clarita Grocery has adapted to the changes imposed by Covid-19, and they have even set up a delivery service to help older adults who can’t afford to leave their homes. Listen to Bradley’s full interview about what Santa Clarita Grocery can do for you or a loved one in the first half of the podcast.

Our next guest on the show is Fred Arnold, Mortgage Banker. Fred calls in to the show to talk about seniors, loans, and how to manage them in this challenging time. Fred has a lot of experience in the mortgage game and shares his best advice and information on how to manage your mortgage payment if your financial is currently unstable. It may seem difficult, but Fred offers a variety of solutions and scenarios about how to make the most of your mortgage payment. Listen to Fred’s full interview in the second half of the podcast.

  1. What about a reverse mortgage? The heirs love those reverse mortgages especially when they find out it has to paid back upon the death of the senior(s) and the heirs get nuttin’.

Nothing like settling the estate and find there is no money to settle it because the bank has to be re-paid!

The heirs are left with the bedbugs, bedpans and Depends!…lol

As far as groceries, don’t forget Aldi…with their low prices it’s a seniors best friend!
