Assemblywoman Smith Secures PPE for Santa Clarita Elder Care Facility

Assemblywoman Christy Smith, D-Santa Clarita, donated 600 disposable gowns for health care workers at the Santa Clarita Post-Acute Center Thursday.

Smith is a member of the Los Angeles County steering committee, composed of state and local elected officials, BizFed and labor organizations securing personal protective equipment (PPE).

“Nursing homes and elder care facilities, hardest hit by the COVID-19 crisis, have been our top concern in the California State Legislature,” Smith said. “As we continue to examine and monitor this situation on a statewide level, I am proud to work with our local partners to shepherd resources to our frontline workers.”

A partnership between BizFed Institute and all 39 State Senators and Assemblymembers started in April.

The partnership represented  Los Angeles County, the Hospital Association of Southern California (HASC), Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Los Angeles Locals, along with the Los Angeles County Business Federation (BizFed).

BizFed is composed of 195 business associations representing over 400,000 employers, who were mobilized to find and collect tax-deductible donations of much needed vital personal protective equipment supplies to help protect workers throughout the County and mitigate the spread of the virus.

As of Thursday July 2, the Santa Clarita Post-Acute Center has ten cumulative positive coronavirus cases amongst staff and eight amongst residents. There has been one reported coronavirus death at the facility, according to Thursday’s report.

  1. Our assemblywoman is in no need of publicity. The SC Elder Care Facility in in need of PPE.
Is that so hard for you to understand? You just cannot leave an act of care un-trashed can you.
    Could you get any smaller?

  2. Good deeds should be appreciated. Your cynicism is not becoming.

  3. Nice of her to tell us.

Good deeds unreported are signs of character
Good deeds with press releases and photo ops are just hubris and ego.

  4. Nice try, Christy. You still suck and your publicity stunt is a joke.

    • Jackie, exactly WHICH of her policies “suck?” Can you be specific or are you like most Republicans who simply repeat what they hear on talk radio?

      • Jackie, exactly WHICH of her policies “suck?” Can you be specific or are you like most Republicans who simply repeat what they hear on talk radio?

      • She is a Democrat, so her policies that suck are: baby butchering (pre and post birth), gun grabbing, open borders, higher taxes, fake cause supporting looting and rioting, voter fraud attempting, Trump derangement syndrome, fake impeachment, Deep State, liberalism, etc…

  5. “…staged *plubicity* stunt…” You can’t spell… Also when you claim: “State reps are *not really* involved in medical supply chain,” and then flip and say: “This is the *usual* self-serving Political Posturing,” you contradict yourself. Are you annoyed that Ms. Smith is actually achieving positive results by “working well with others” or are you pissed because she’s a Democrat who is ABLE to reach across the aisle to work with Republican business?

  6. So, a partnership between all 39 state senators and this company…..so what, exactly, did this woman do besides existing as a state senator? It sounds to me as though all 39 state senators would’ve gotten the same deal via the existing partnership.
Why are we praising these highly paid, elected people when they just exist?

  7. I like her and I’m glad she is still working for the greater good! ????

  8. I agree with you and disregard the haters…
    Glad Mike won!!

  9. She is a Democrat…. So she took the day off supporting fake cause looting and rioting. Big deal.

Humble and genuine people donate in private. They don’t call attention to themselves with a press release.

  10. Lost on me, don’t know what that is! Maybe other readers can appreciate your cleverness.
