Third Student Shot In Saugus High Shooting Recovering At Home

The family of the 14-year-old boy who was injured during the Saugus High shooting on Thursday has reported that he is recovering at home, according to a Sunday statement.

Andrew Gardetto,  14, was reportedly shot in the right leg and taken to Henry Mayo for treatment, according to Hart District officials.

A member of the Santa Clarita Young Marines program, Gardetto was released that same night, as he had received the most minor injuries of all three survivors.

Gardetto and his family “thanked the Santa Clarita community, first responders and all those who have been praying for his swift recovery, both physical and emotional, as they begin to heal,” according to officials.

Gardetto was one of five innocent students who were shot after a 16-year-old Saugus student walked into the quad of Saugus High School Thursday morning, pulled out a .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun, and opened fire.

The suspect then pointed the gun at his own head and fired, according to investigators. He died the next day at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital.

Two students, 15-year-old Gracie Muehlberger and 14-year-old Dominic Blackwell, were killed as the result of the shooting, and three other students were injured.

The shooter’s motivation was still not known as of Sunday afternoon.

  1. How about if you refer to the “shooter” for what he actually was, a murderer. Someone target practicing is a “shooter”. This evil person was a premeditated “murderer” and nothing less.
