The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has announced a scheduling change to their next 55-hour full weekend closure of the westbound Interstate 210 in Sylmar.
Originally scheduled from Jan. 21 to Jan. 24, the 55-hour weekend closure was scheduled for paving work as a part of a series that are scheduled for the 210 in the San Fernando Valley over the next several months.
The updated schedule is expected to close the following areas of the 210 between Feb. 4 to Feb. 7:
- Closure of eastbound I-210 right lane from Maclay St. to Paxton St.
- Closure of eastbound I-210 Maclay St. on-ramp
- Closure of eastbound I-210 to westbound SR-118 connector
- Closure of eastbound I-210 Paxton off-ramp
Caltrans reminds drivers to be “Work Zone Alert” and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
Closures are set to occur only if weather permits, according to a statement from Caltrans.
The closure is part of a series of eight 55-hour closures that will be conducted on I-210 in the San Fernando Valley.
The work on the 210 is part of a $135.5 million project repaving and upgrading the 210 from Wheatland Avenue to the I-5, officials said. Overhead sign structures, traffic loop detectors, center median barrier, and the guardrail system are also set to be upgraded.
The project is funded through Senate Bill 1 (SB1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, representatives said.
