A Newhall Ranch water main break in Valencia Wednesday has blocked lanes of traffic near Valencia High School, officials said.

UPDATE: 4:45 p.m. — One lane in the eastbound direction of Newhall Ranch Road is now open, according to City of Santa Clarita officials.
Around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, firefighters received reports of a water main break on Newhall Ranch Road near Dickason Drive, said Austin Bennett, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“When units got on scene they reported a large water break,” Bennett said
As a result of the water main break, fire personnel requested to have Newhall ranch Road closed down between Copper Hill and Dickason Drive, according to fire officials.
All eastbound lanes of Newhall Ranch Road are closed as of 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, with more closures to be determined as crews asses the break, according to Carrie Lujan, spokesperson for the City of Santa Clarita.

This water main break comes two months after another break on Newhall Ranch Road just miles away near Bouquet Canyon Road.
Both water main ruptures have impacted traffic across the Santa Clarita Valley, according to officials.
There is no estimate of when lanes are expected to reopen for Wednesday’s water main break, but crews on scene said, “they are going to be there for a while.”
