The City of Santa Clarita announced a series of road closures along Sierra Highway beginning in late January as part of a pedestrian safety initiative in Santa Clarita.
Beginning Monday, Jan. 24, construction crews are scheduled to begin the installation of a new curb, gutter and sidewalk along portions of the east side of Sierra Highway, north of Soledad Canyon Road, according to the City of Santa Clarita.
“Commuters are asked to be aware of scheduled lane closures and plan their routes accordingly,” read a statement from the City of Santa Clarita. “Traffic signs will be posted to inform motorists of upcoming lane closures. Residents are asked to reduce their speed through the construction zone.”
The project, which is anticipated to last until mid-March, is expected to enhance pedestrian safety in the area from Racquet Court to Skyline Ranch Road, as well as the intersections of Sierra Highway and Scherzinger Lane, and Sierra Highway and Adon Avenue.

Affected segments include one northbound lane on Sierra Highway which is expected to be closed between Racquet Court and Skyline Ranch Road beginning Jan. 24 through the duration of the project, according to officials.
The Scherzinger Lane intersection at Sierra Highway is also scheduled to be closed from Jan. 24 through Feb. 4, while the Adon Avenue intersection is projected to be closed at Sierra Highway from Feb. 7 through Feb. 18.
Drivers are advised to use Scherzinger Lane or Adon Avenue while the other is closed or use Tiffany Lane and Sarabande Lane as a detour, according to the City of Santa Clarita.
“The City of Santa Clarita thanks community members in advance for their understanding and support of this project,” read a statement from the City of Santa Clarita. “All measures will be taken to complete the project in a safe and timely manner.”
