14 Freeway Brush Fire Prompts A Response From Firefighters In Acton, Held At Two Acres

A 14 Freeway brush fire in Acton has prompted a response from firefighters Thursday morning and has been held to two acres, officials said.

The brush fire dubbed the Dido Fire was first reported around 6:30 a.m. Thursday to firefighters on the northbound 14 Freeway at Escondido Canyon Road, said Martin Rangel, a dispatch supervisor for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“Units first reported the fire was three quarters of an acre,” Rangel said.

The Dido Fire grew to two acres and was held between the 14 Freeway and Escondido Canyon Road, according to fire officials.

The forward progress of the fire was stopped at 7:15 a.m., according to officials.

A SigAlert has been issued for the northbound 14 Freeway blocking the right 2 lanes at Red Rover Mine for an unknown amount of time, according to officials.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
