The 14 Freeway is set to face a series of lane closures from Santa Clarita to Palmdale for the fourteenth time as officials work to improve the road, officials said.
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is set to close portions of the 14 Freeway for a pavement rehabilitation project in order to improve the condition of the lanes and create a smoother ride for motorists, according to officials.
Closures are scheduled nightly from Monday, April 29 through Saturday, May 4, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
These closures may start and end later, as all closures are weather-permitting and subject to change, according to Caltrans officials.
The project requires closing two lanes to facilitate a safe work zone in an effort to protect workers and motorists as they replace concrete slabs, as well as grind and stripe both directions of the 14 Freeway between Via Princessa in Canyon Country and Technology Drive in Palmdale.
Myers and Sons Construction is the contractor on the $6.6 million pavement rehabilitation project, which is estimated to be completed in the spring of 2019, according to Caltrans officials.
Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to plan ahead, use alternate routes and avoid the area, officials said.
Additionally, motorists can check traffic conditions before they leave by visiting the Caltrans Quickmap here.
Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
