The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is set to close portions of the 14 Freeway this week for a pavement rehabilitation project, which is expected to be completed during the spring.
Closures are scheduled nightly on Monday, March 18 through Saturday, March 23 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
“The project includes replacing concrete slabs, grinding and striping both directions of SR-14 between the Santa Clara River and Technology Drive,” said officials in a statement.
The project is expected to improve the condition of the lanes and create a smoother ride for motorists, according to Caltrans officials.
The $6.6 million pavement rehabilitation project is scheduled to close two lanes to facilitate a safe work zone to protect workers and motorists.
“Closures may start and end later. All closures are weather-permitting and subject to change,” said officials.
Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to plan ahead, use alternate routes and avoid the area. Additionally, motorists can check traffic conditions before they leave by visiting the Caltrans Quickmap.
