One of two students killed in the Saugus High shooting has been identified Friday morning, officials said.
Saugus High School student Gracie Muehlberger, 15, was identified as one of two students who succumbed to their injuries, according to Sara Ardalani with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.
The other victim, a 14-year-old male, has not been identified as of Friday morning.
The Saugus High shooting was reported at about 7:38 a.m. Thursday with multiple reports of shots fired on the campus, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva.

“We are a strong community,” said Capt. Robert Lewis of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “In the days and years ahead, the main thing we need to do is wrap our arms around each other and support each other.”
In the quad at Saugus High, the suspect — who turned 16 on the day of the shooting — pulled out a handgun and fired at several students before turning the weapon on himself, according to Sheriff’s officials.
The shooter was among those transported to the hospital and remains in “grave” condition as of 3 p.m. Thursday, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials.
Additionally, the other students injured in the incident have been reported as in stable condition per Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials.
Gracie Muehlberger’s brother, Riley Muehlberger, took to Twitter to mourn and memorialize his sister.

All schools in the William S. Hart Union High School District were closed on Friday.
A vigil is currently planned for 7 p.m. Sunday at Central Park, located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road.

My heart breaks for her parents and the parents of the other student whose life was stollen from them. Please teach your kids to reach out for help so this terror can stop. People listen to the kids they need us!!!
No other person has a right to take the life of another person simply cuz they’re upset with their own life and innocent persons who never did anything to him that sucks he said if he was going to do that he should have took his own life leave innocent people alone
I don’t understand this… what gives them the right to take people’s lives away? We bring up our kids with so much love and care for some unhappy idiot to come and take them away. I don’t get why don’t they just kill themselves and get it over with. So sad and upsetting. I brought up my family in SCV because it was one of the safest towns in California.

As a retired teacher/counselor, my prayers go out to the families who lost their child, the injured students, the students, and staff at Saugus. I’m so torn knowing how this effects students psychologically. Yet, a major concern is what on earth are we missing on a day to day basis with our students? The state & federal government tie educators hands so tightly with core lit, teaching toward tests, etc., etc. The majority of these lawmakers haven’t even taught in a classroom! Do they realize there is often no time left for staff to take a deeper look at the students, our future leaders, and productive citizens. From all reports, this boy was a productive student not a problem in classes. His grief could have caused depression not presented to those working so diligently, meeting time demands for the state/federal government daily, because he didn’t act out. All these signs can be taught to students as easily as the lock down drills IF staffs weren’t so encumbered by state/federal expectations! What was missed by all of us? It certainly takes a village to raise a child! My heart aches for the families. No parent should EVER have to lose a child like this…EVER!
I often wonder why the news talks more of the person who shot this child rather than who she was.. what this beautiful young girl did, what she wanted to be, and how her parents and family feel and think of her. Why always repeat the same junk on a story you leach in constantly on all the pages. These children deserve to be heard in life or death but if this is a news story on this girl who was murdered. You should base it on her. Not 2 sentences of who she is and the rest on the shooter. Sorry not sorry. But California is becoming ridiculous.. listen, the shooter had some issues. He did it.. but let these other children have more than 2 dang sentences.. where is your compassion!!
Not only does my heart go out to the victims and families. I also feel extremely sad for the mother of the shooter. First she lost her husband raising an extremely lost child. He was a good student but depression, over took his mind.
I hope some people respect her at this horrible time. A lot of stress and devastation. He was still her baby, son, and friend. A very sad time for everyone. ?
It is the worst nightmare for any parent or family member to have an innocent child taken like this. The boy that killed was a coward and wanted to die but wanted others too. This is something that seems to be the new normal for this mentally unstable kids. I am so sorry for the loss of this beautiful young girl and the other boy. I am so glad those wounded are getting better. My thoughts and prayers are there for this community as they try to come to peace.
