$20,000 Offered For Information Leading To Arrest In Suspicious Missing Person Case

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors extended a motion Tuesday to offer a $20,000 reward leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for the suspicious disappearance of Monique Figueroa, who went missing in 2015.

Figueroa was last seen around 4 a.m. on May 19, 2015, leaving her home on the 7200 block of East Avenue U-12 in Littlerock in a 2004 burgundy colored Mercedes Benz, according to Sheriff’s officials.

Figueroa, who was 27 at the time she went missing, had a 2-year-old daughter and her family told KTLA she would never just leave her child.

“She’s a good mother because she wouldn’t leave,” Jeff Figueroa, Monique’s father, told Nexstar’s KTLA in the weeks after his daughter’s disappearance. “She wouldn’t just leave a 2-year-old daughter at home. She’s a really good girl. She always worked and she wouldn’t just disappear like that.”

About two weeks later on May 30, 2015, her car was recovered in the Palmdale area.

Her car was all scratched up, similar to if it had been run off the road, Jeff told KTLA

The case is now being investigated as suspicious and a possible kidnapping, according to Sheriff’s officials.

Sheriff’s officials also believe a strong likelihood that foul play was involved.

In June 2016, detectives received a tip that remains were possibly buried in a vacant multi-acre field along Pearblossom Highway, in the vicinity of Figueroa’s home, according to KTLA.

At the time, the L.A. Board of Supervisors offered a $10,000 reward leading to an arrest.

Almost eight years later, the Board approved a motion to double the reward to 20,000 during their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday.

“My heart goes out to Monique’s loved ones who have painfully lived with her

absence for nearly eight years,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger, who represents the fifth District including Santa Clarita and the Antelope Valley. “Extending this reward sends a message: We are not giving up. I want unresolved questions answered for the sake of her family and the Antelope Valley community at large. If anyone has any information, no matter how

insignificant it may seem, please find the courage to step forward.”

Information can be anonymously reported to L.A. Crime Stoppers by calling 1(800) 222-TIPS (8477) or or online by clicking here.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
