In an effort to save lives, the city of Santa Clarita has partnered up with the American Red Cross for a community blood drive hosted at City Hall in Valencia.

Every two seconds someone needs a unit of blood, according to national statistics from the American Red Cross. Due to the constant need of blood in the community, the city of Santa Clarita makes efforts to host multiple blood drives throughout the year.

Residents are encouraged to donate their time and blood at City Hall on Thursday, August 10, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., as just one donation can save up to three lives.

To sign up, go to the American Red Cross webpage and use the sponsor code “cityofsantaclarita.” On donation day, participants can go directly to the Century Room on the first floor for evaluation to ensure they are eligible to donate.

As an incentive, the American Red Cross is offering a $5 Target eGift card for all attempted donations between July 26 and August 31.

Save time on donation day by using RapidPass. RapidPass allows donors to start the process before getting to the donation site, saving them approximately 15 minutes. Visit the Red Cross website for more information. All participants must have a valid ID to donate.
