American Red Cross Seeks Blood, Platelet Donations After Hurricane Dorian

The American Red Cross is encouraging donors from Santa Clarita and beyond to give blood or platelets after Hurricane Dorian, officials said Monday.

Hurricane Dorian has forced the closure of blood donation centers and the cancellation of blood drives in its path, causing planned blood and platelet donations to go uncollected, according to Red Cross officials.

“When blood donations are disrupted in a region of the country, the Red Cross is able to move blood donations where they are needed most,” said Red Cross officials in a statement.
