A Newhall man is facing assault with a deadly weapon charges after allegedly burning an individual with a blow torch after a verbal argument Monday, officials said.
On Monday around 7:40 p.m., deputies responded to the 25000 block of Walnut Street regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The suspect reportedly got into a verbal argument with his mother, Miller said.
When another family member, a male adult in his late 50s, told him to stop talking that way to his mother, the suspect allegedly picked up a blow torch and burned the victim on his neck, Miller said.
Deputies arrested Carlos Martinez, 23, of Newhall, on felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
Martinez was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail.
