Burglary Suspect Arrested After Throwing Rock At Canyon Country Home For Denying Him Access To Restroom

A Canyon Country burglary suspect was arrested Sunday after attempting to force entry into a residence that denied his request to use their restroom.

On Sunday, deputies responded to a burglary call for service at a home on the 27000 block of Hidaway Avenue in Canyon Country where a suspect was attempting to enter the victim’s residence, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“During the investigation, deputies learned the suspect was in front of the victim’s residence when he demanded entry to use the restroom,” Arriaga said. “When the victim did not allow the suspect to enter, the suspect became upset and threw a rock through the window while yelling at the victim and attempting to enter.”

Upon arrival, deputies detained a male adult matching the suspect description on scene without further incident, according to Arriaga.

Further inspection of his person revealed that he had been in possession of retail merchandise with security tags still attached, according to Arriaga.

Nicolas Velasco, 29, a transient, was arrested and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on charges of felony counts of burglary and receiving stolen property and held at $50,000 bail.

  1. It was lucky the homeowner wasn’t a “Stand Your Ground “ homeowner!
