Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver Trenton Irwin Talks Future Football Camp

Trenton Irwin, Hart High School alum and Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver, talked to KHTS Radio about his upcoming second annual football camp for aspiring youths, and how it feels to give back.

The upcoming football camp at College of the Canyons marks the second annual camp hosted by Irwin. The camp is part of Irwin’s efforts to give back to the Santa Clarita community, where he was born and raised.

“I’m just trying to provide an atmosphere with a lot of great energy,” said Irwin. “Really just trying to bring that to a bunch of kids. Learn about adversity and life lessons in a camp where we just have some fun.”

Irwin played football at Hart High School before going on to Stanford University. He was eventually drafted into the Cincinnati Bengals and played in the Super Bowl in 2022.

Last year Irwin established a youth football camp at Cougar Stadium, free for students between the 5th and 8th grade. The kids are coached by other NFL, CFL and collegiate football talents in drills and scrimmages.

About 20-25 NFL and CFL coaches are expected to be at the camp as well as fellow wide receivers, Stabley Morgan from the Bengals and Tim White from Hart High School who now plays in the CFL.

According to Irwin, over 200 students have already signed up for the event.

Spectators are $5 each and donations are encouraged, with proceeds going to Fostering Youth Independence (FYI) an organization that supports foster children.

“My little brother’s closest friend ended up being in a foster situation,” said Irwin. “So to stay at Hart High School, my mom is fostering him right now. Just seeing all he’s been through, it spoke to me to have the camp to support them.”

The camp is scheduled for Sunday March 26th.

About Carl Goldman

Carl Goldman, along with his wife, Jeri repurchased KHTS AM-1220, Santa Clarita’s hometown station on October 24, 2003. They owned it from 1990-1998, and then sold it to Clear Channel Communication in 1998, buying it back from Clear Channel in 2003. Since then, they have rebuilt KHTS as a critical voice of the Valley. In 2015 the radio station moved to its new headquarters on Main Street in Old Town Newhall, in the original Newhall Hardware building. In 2018 an FM was added, 98.1, with its signal being simulcast with AM-1220. In January 2020, Carl and Jeri cruised on the Diamond Princess. Carl was one of the first Americans to come down with Covid-19. Months earlier he was impacted by Guillain Barre Syndrome as a result of a Shingles vaccine in September 2019. He is still in recovery from the vaccine.
