City Invites Artist Submissions For Installation At New SCV Sheriff’s Station

The City of Santa Clarita is seeking artwork to be permanently installed at the Golden Valley Sheriff Station, inviting artists to submit portfolios for consideration.

The SCV Sheriff’s Station is looking for artwork that considers the site of the station, its history and members of the community. Creativity, timeliness, and innovation of design are encouraged.

Artwork should be an original design, appropriate for all ages, cannot promote businesses or include trademarks, brands, business names or images of drugs.

Any medium is up for consideration, but artists should keep in mind structural and surface soundness, theft, vandalism, maintenance and repair costs.

Artists are required to outline in their proposal a suggested maintenance schedule, according to officials.

Guidelines include fitting in the predetermined location, the upper lobby walls and ceiling, hanging no lower than eight feet above the lobby floor.

The City is set to review the artist’s proposed installation plans and request additional information from a California licensed engineer, hired by the artist, to address safety concerns the City may have.

Artwork must comply with standard engineering practices and requirements and may be evaluated to require that it does not present a hazard to public safety and must conform to ADA standards.

The all-inclusive budget for this project is $190,623. The SCV Sheriff Station is located at 26201 Golden Valley Road, Santa Clarita, CA 91350.

More information can be found at the entry form link. The deadline is July 31, 2022.
