City Of Santa Clarita Renews Partnership With ‘Ring’ Camera Doorbell

The City of Santa Clarita announced its renewed partnership with Ring doorbell Tuesday, as well as details for an upcoming event to launch another joint subsidy program.

The initiative aims to reduce crime in neighborhoods by investing in affordable and effective smart home security for Santa Clarita residents, according to officials.

“We have found that the Ring is a big deterrent to thieves; it prevents a lot of thefts,” said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The joint subsidy program is set to provide discounts for Santa Clarita residents who wish to purchase select home security devices, according to officials.

With funds appropriated by the City of Santa Clarita, along with matching funds from Ring, the $50,000 program is set to enable 500 verified City of Santa Clarita residents to receive a $100 subsidy code to use towards select Ring security devices.

Unlike the first time around when residents were instructed to email the City, the subsidy program will take place at an event on April 18 at the Old Town Newhall Library.

Eligible residents may purchase select Ring products in-person and participate in the program on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Residents who participated in the 2018 City of Santa Clarita and Ring subsidy program in August 2018, will not be eligible to participate in this event,” said Ring officials.

Santa Clarita residents will have the opportunity to purchase the following devices with $100 off the retail price:

    • Video Doorbell 2
    • Video Doorbell Pro
    • Spotlight Cam Solar
    • Spotlight Cam Battery
    • Spotlight Cam Wired
    • Floodlight Cam
    • Ring Alarm Security Kit (5-Piece)
    • Stick Up Cam Wired
    • Stick Up Cam Battery

Ring is also set to offer $30 off additional security devices, with a maximum of two per household, and 20 percent off accessories.

Santa Clarita residents who wish to register for the subsidy program must present a valid form of ID and a copy of a utility bill to register, according to officials.

Residents are invited to take advantage of the new subsidy program on April 18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Old Town Newhall Library located at 24500 Main St. in Newhall.
