The City of Santa Clarita is set to host two additional public meetings for residents to provide feedback on a proposed plan for the upcoming construction of an “inclusive” play area at Canyon Country Park, officials said Tuesday.

At the meetings, the updated concept design incorporating feedback gathered from the City’s first public meeting in April is set to be shared with the public.

These meetings are an opportunity for residents to ask City staff members and consultants questions and offer input about the play area, which is expected to be the first of its kind built by the City, according to officials.

The play area is set to include inclusive play structures, accessible connections to existing facilities, a shade structure and new seating areas for children and adults. Construction is scheduled to begin in July 2019 and is anticipated to be completed by the end of the year.

Inclusive playgrounds are designed in an effort to provide meaningful play experiences, and this project is expected to construct an outdoor play environment that provides physical and social inclusion for people of all ages and abilities, according to officials.

The first meeting is scheduled to take place on Thursday, May 30 from 12-1 p.m. The second meeting is scheduled for later that evening from 6-7:30 p.m.

Both meetings are expected to be held in the Community Room at Canyon Country Park, located at 17615 Soledad Canyon Road. The same content is set to be covered at both meetings, and activities will be provided for children, according to officials.
