The meeting, set for Jan. 24, was arranged after an employee at the County of Los Angeles Mental Health Commission saw a need for more mental health resources in Santa Clarita, according to officials.
“The commission usually meets in downtown L.A. monthly,” said Zee Dankworth of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. “Someone in our department urged them to come to Santa Clarita.”
All are welcome to attend the free event, where each person will be given two minutes to speak about the state of mental health services in Santa Clarita.
“People will have a chance to have a voice,” Dankworth said. “The goal is to identify and advocate for the unmet mental health needs in Santa Clarita.”
The town hall meeting is set to be held on Thursday, Jan. 24, in Room 258 at the Dianne G. Van Hook University Center at the College of the Canyons Valencia campus from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
