Congressional Candidates For CA-25 Raise Over $1 Million In Second Quarter

While the second quarter of 2019 is the first to have all four Republican candidates listed, incumbent Congresswoman Katie Hill, D-Agua Dulce, raised nearly twice as much money as all of the other candidates combined.

The second quarter of 2019, which accounts for the period between April 1, 2019 and June 30, 2019, was the first period that had all four Republican candidates file with the Federal Election Commission.

During the second quarter, Hill raised a total of $711,644.29, which is nearly double the amount of money raised by all of the other candidates combined.

“Our grassroots supporters are tired of corporations and special interests driving the agenda in Washington,” Hill said in a statement. “Never accepting a dollar of corporate PAC money for my campaign was made possible because of their support, and I am so honored by their confidence.”

Meanwhile, Mike Garcia, a former Naval fighter pilot, led the Republican candidates in funds raised with $250,257.39. Lancaster City Councilmember Angela Underwood-Jacobs followed with $121,624, while Repulican Campaign Strategist Suzette Martinez-Valladares raised $20,195.08, and Mark Cripe, an author, raised $15,410.

“I am incredibly humbled by the vast amount of support we’ve received since becoming a candidate for Congress,” Garcia said in a statement. “Folks across the district know that I will fight for them and will stand up against the socialist agenda Katie Hill and her big supporter Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are trying to push in Washington.”

Of the funds raised by the Republican candidates, Garcia listed the most from contributions under $200, with those contributions adding up to $10,914.75.

“That to me is important,” Garcia said. “It’s not the dollar amount of the contributor, it’s the contributor themselves.”

All four Republican candidates are set to join the Santa Clarita Republican Women Federated at The Oaks Club on Saturday for a question and answer session, while Hill is set to join the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce during their Current Affairs Forum series on July 30.

  1. Little wonder Katie Hill has such support; she works for us, not the corporate interests. So, Mike Garcia, brands her a socialist. That’s the big bad scary word that will be prominent in the next election. In our country we have many socialistic programs in place making life better for all.
    Some examples are:
    Guaranteed Pubic Education
    Public Transportation
    Police and Fire Departments
    Public Libraries
    All Branches of the Military
    Roads and Highways
    Social Security
    Medicare/medicaid
Public, not private prisons & jails
    Public Hospitals
    The Veterans Administration
    FBI, CIA, NSA, etc.
    Public Universities
    Public Parks
    US Postal System

Do these things scare you? Do you object to them? Do you like them? Maybe need them?
Socialism simply means the things the public needs and demands of our leaders.
By understanding the true meaning, you will see it’s not scary at all. Say no to Republican fear tactics.

    • I say no to Hill, her voting against her district wants and getting away with it. The scare tactics are insane against conservative views. Wake up SCV and Simi! Voter fraud is rampant, be prepared for more of the same. Big money is behind her. Wait until the companies continue to move out of state.

    • Are you really trying to equate the funding of government services with the political meaning of Socialism? I’d laugh, but I realize there is a very gullible and uninformed electorate out there. Please folks, research for yourselves (and use another search engine besides Google).

  2. Google Katie Hills Campaign Contributions and you will see a list of Corporate Monies and Interests Plus numerous PAC’s that control HER interests which of course is Driven by the Liberal Left who are moving closer and closer to Socialism for this Democratic Republic Country.

  3. There is NOTHING GRASSROOTS about Katie Hill’s support. This district was one of a few identified, targeted and funded mostly by Bloomberg to be flipped. Unfortunately republicans have given up on CA and receive no national support. Between that and the “Ballot Harvesting”, and DMV voter registration “irregularities” it may be a lost cause. Conservatives built the foundation of a state that was the envy of every other state in every category. Both parties exploited illegal immigrants. Finally, Democrats have finished the job of creating our country’s first 3rd world state. Gated communities and cheap labor (along with poverty, homelessness, rat infestations, health hazards, worst schools, highest taxes, crumbling infrastructure) and no middle class. Step back and take an honest look at how California has changed since it went from a red state to blue state.
