Being around your children is not the same as being involved. You can be there and not be there. For example a mother or father may be around and sit on the couch and tell their kids, ‘go bother your mom, or go bother your dad.’ Just being in a state of disconnection.

A conscious and connected parent are engaging with their kids, asking how their day is, playing with them, watching TV or a movie together. They are doing more than just being there.
A great way to be connected is showing your kids affection, Jazmine said. It is never too late to start begin affectionate. It might be awkward but they know it is from a good place and that builds love and trust and all around great feelings.

The little moments are key to have, Alex said. I noticed my daughter was studying on her computer and I passed her on my way out and I stopped and turned back and went to give her a kiss on her forehead and her face lit up.
Parents often try too hard, in their kids eyes, Jazmine said. Stop DOING and start BEING. That is a major concept that parents need to understand.
