Domestic Violence Suspect Arrested After Assaulting Girlfriend, Cutting Good Samaritan

A domestic violence suspect was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and cut a good Samaritan with a box cutter.

On Saturday, July 16, 2022, deputies responded to the 27300 block of Fahren Court in Canyon Country regarding a domestic violence call, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Upon arrival, deputies learned during a verbal argument between the victim and her boyfriend, the victim was physically assaulted by the suspect,” Arriaga said. “During the altercation, the victim saw the suspect had a box cutter knife in hand.”

Deputies learned that a second victim was cut on the torso with the box cutter while trying to separate the woman and suspect, according to Arriaga.

“The suspect then fled the location via his vehicle, out of view,” Arriaga said.

On Tuesday, detectives located William Gonzalez Lopez, 38, from Newhall, and arrested him for assault with a deadly weapon and battery on a spouse, Arriaga said.

The domestic violence suspect was booked into the SCV Sheriff’s Station and remains in custody as of Wednesday.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
