DUI Charges Account For 56 Percent Of Santa Clarita Weekend Arrests

Santa Clarita saw a slight decrease in arrests this weekend, with a majority of them being on driving under the influence (DUI) charges.

From Friday, June 11 to Sunday, June 13, deputies arrested 16 individuals with nine DUI arrests made, making that the most common type of arrest for the time period, according to arrest records.

This weekend marks a drop in arrests compared to last weekend, which saw 17 total bookings, officials said.

Only 13 percent of the arrests made were on felony charges compared to 47 percent last week, according to arrest records.

The felony arrests were for making criminal threats and for identity theft, according to officials.

Of the 16 arrests made over the weekend, 11 were on drug-related charges, according to officials.

Five of those arrested were Santa Clarita residents and two were transients, according to arrest logs.

This weekend marks the second week in a row of decreasing arrest numbers.
