A Fillmore man was arrested Monday for alleged sex crimes against two minors that occurred several years ago in Santa Clarita. 

Detectives began investigating the case in 2020, but the sex crimes stemmed as far back as 2013, said Sgt. Joseph Mesa, with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau.  

“The sex crime occurred in 2013,” Mesa said. “The suspect had a similar accusation a couple years later with a different victim.”  

On both occasions, the suspect was a roommate with the families in Santa Clarita and allegedly committed these sex crimes with the victims under the age of 14, according to Sheriff’s investigators. 

Roberto Zuniga, 42, from Fillmore was arrested for felony oral copulation with a minor under the age of 14, according to booking logs.

As of the publication of this article, it is unknown how many felony counts are being filed against the suspect.   

The case will be submitted to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office for filing purposes. 

Zuniga was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station with bail set at $100,000, according to arrest records.
