Fourth Annual Caroling With Gracie Gathers Canned Goods For SCV Grocery

On Saturday, the fourth annual Caroling with Gracie car parade moved through the neighborhood near Real Life Church in Valencia playing Christmas carols broadcast on KHTS Radio and collecting canned goods for SCV Grocery.

Canned goods were collected for SCV Grocery at the 2022 Caroling with Gracie event held in memory of Gracie Anne Muehlberger, who was killed in the Saugus High School shooting in 2019.

The event is organized by the GracieStrong Foundation, which was created by Gracie’s parents after her death.

“She was always big into the Christmas spirit,” said Gracie’s father Bryan Muehlberger. “After she had gotten killed my wife decided to coordinate caroling door-to-door and it was such a good time and brought a smile to my wife’s face and we decided to keep doing it.”

This year, the parade visited the Lower Northbridge community.

The tour lasted about two hours.

Several vehicles rode in the parade, which was led by the KHTS antique fire truck with Santa in the passenger seat.

Residents placed bags of canned goods in front of their homes and waved at the parade as it moved past.

A participant rode on roller blades collecting canned goods and placing them in the cars.

“Ever since we moved here to Santa Clarita we would do a little Christmas Eve open house and Gracie was always the one that would coordinate the kids to go caroling door to door,” Muehlberger said.

The parade was initially held on foot in 2019.

“The next year (2020) was COVID so we decided to do the car parade, and what we found was it was probably a little more fun because we could put our windows down, and found we could actually collect more cans,” Muehlberger said. “Because people were stuck in their house, it brought a lot of people to their door or front porch and spread holiday cheer”
