A GoFundMe page was posted to support Valencia High School teacher Cindy Pharis, who narrowly escaped the Creek Fire with only her dog and the clothes she was wearing. Although she escaped the blaze uninjured, she learned hours later that her home burned down.

“One of our fellow Vikings, Art teacher Cindy Pharis, lost her home in yesterday’s fire,” said a tweet from the Valencia Vikings Twitter page. “A Go Fund Me campaign has been started to help her begin the process of rebuilding.”

Pharis is an art teacher at Valencia High School who also creates paintings, sculptures and poetry outside of the classroom.

Most of her artwork perished in the fire, the GoFundMe Page explained, along with family heirlooms and other personal belongings.

Pharis and her daughters lived in the home for close to 20 years. As of 1 p.m. Wednesday, the GoFundMe has raised over $9,000 for the family.

“Let’s come together in her time of need and show her how much she means to so many of us and help her begin to rebuild what was lost,” the page said.
