Adding a spin to several sections of the park, organizers explained that they strayed away from more traditional holiday themes.

“We thought we would take the holiday atmosphere and theming, and push it over the edge a little bit,” said Debbie Erickson, the director of marketing for Magic Mountain. “We’re trying to reach the taste of everybody, and what they think the holidays are for them.”

Spread across the park, each holiday themed section presented something different for families to experience.

“Each year we try to develop a new area, so that for our season pass holders there’s something new to see, and for our non-season pass holders it’s just a great event overall to be a part of,” Erickson said.

Magic Mountain’s newest feature is Fire & Ice at the Metro Park Pub, near the park’s Justice League Battle for Metropolis ride. The section is decorated with gleaming icicles and an open fire that families can roast marshmallows over.

In addition to Fire & Ice, the park’s visitors can wander through Holiday Square, the transformed DC Universe’s Rockin’ Universe,  the toy soldier filled Winter Wonderland area, and the Steampunk District’s holiday themed Gleampunk District.

Additionally, the park is featuring the acrobatic stunts from the cast of Kwerkmas show and music from the performers in the Snowy Nights concert.

Those seeking a Christmas thrill can enter Santa’s Wild Sleigh Ride, a virtual reality ride on Six Flags’ The New Revolution, in which riders go on a journey with Santa Claus and battle an elf trying to foil St. Nick’s plan to deliver presents on Christmas Eve.

Erickson praised the Six Flags staff for changing the park from the horror laden Fright Fest to a lighter themed holiday wonderland.

“Our operations team has worked so hard and worked together to accomplish that big transition from that huge Fright Fest event,” Erickson said. “Everybody’s in the mood now to be with family, and be happy.”
