Officials with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner has identified human remains found in the Santa Clara River wash in December as a Lancaster man.

Investigators discovered human remains in the Santa Clara riverbed near Magic Mountain Parkway at the South Fork Trail bike path in December of 2018.

“The decedent has been identified as Christopher Clark, from Lancaster,” said Sarah Ardalani, spokesperson for the  L.A. County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.

Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station initially responded to the riverbed on the morning of Dec. 5, 2018.

“Detectives have learned, a utility employee discovered a human skull within the riverbed,” said Deputy Armando Viera Jr. in a previous KHTS story.

Homicide detectives and investigators with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner returned to the riverbed three days later, employing the use of a cadaver dog to uncover more human remains.

“During the search, additional human remains were discovered approximately 100 yards from Wednesday’s discovery of a human skull,” said Deputy Grace Medrano of the LASD Information Bureau at the time.

Officials did not give a cause of death for Clark.
