The identities of a deceased couple who were found in the advanced stages of decomposition in a home in Canyon Country nearly one week ago have not yet been released, according to Coroner’s officials.

“(One of the victims) is a male John Doe, and the other is a female Jane Doe,” said Lt. Ed Winters with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office.
He added that the identification for both victims could not be released until next of kin was notified.
“We spoke with a distant relative,” he said, “but have not contacted the next in line yet.”

Deputies responded to the location to check on the welfare of the residents after receiving a report that they had not been seen for several weeks, and that there was a strong odor coming from the house.
Homicide Bureau detectives were called in investigate the deaths. No foul play is suspected at this time.
